- Please join us for an amazing day with Carolyn McDade, composer of our most beloved UU hymn “Spirit of Life” as
well as creator of our Water Ceremony. We will spend the day deeply engaging in several pieces of Carolyn’s music
—learning from her the story behind each piece as well as singing the piece together under her direction. Writes
Carolyn of the day: a time for stories and reflection, an invitation to immerse into the personal, communal, and
planetary currents that run within these songs and our singing.
It is hoped that participants will stay over Saturday night for the concert and then sing the pieces on Sunday morning during the worship service. - ContactMarni Harmony

8,10,11~ RIVERSONG: Flowing with the Creative Spirit ~ Little Rock, Arkansas
- FRIDAY, Feb 8-SUNDAY, Feb. 10 , Riversong: 22nd Annual Southwest Unitarian Universalist Women's Conference
LOCATION: Peabody Hotel, Three Statehouse Plaza, Little Rrock, Arkansas - This year's 22nd Annual Southwest Unitarian Universalist Women's Conference will focus on activities that support our ability to discover and nurture the sacred creative callings that are ever emerging within our souls. We are truly blessed to have Carolyn McDade as our theme presenter this year. Learn about her recently launched "My Heart is Moved Project...music guiding us through the narrows to a deeper understanding of who we are; music that pulls us to where waters run...seep...pool." As a social activist, Carolyn weaves together the spiritual and the political - freeing women's generative energies to act as social, planetary, and cosmic beings on behalf of ourselves, one another, and the wellbeing of the whole. She further suggests that transformation is possible "...by embracing the courage it takes to sing - to really sing, in the way that disrobes the heart and lays its curve into the world, that leaves the soul whole and the body shining" Like a river's journey, creativity contains broad currents of free-flowing movement, meandering streams that fuel its course, vigorous rapids and spirited falls, passages through perilous narrows, areas of inert stagnation, clear pools of polished stillness, and finally, a place of union with the sea, merging with the source. Carolyn will also be giving a workshop Saturday afternoon.
